Here's another quick Breathwork Test you can do.

The BOLT SCORE

The Body Oxygen Level Test

To start the test, sit down and engage in your normal breathing for around five minutes.

Take a normal breath in and out through your nose. Then pinch your nose with your fingers and time how long it takes until you feel the first desire to breathe or the first involuntary movement of your breathing muscles.

When you let go your breathing should be normal.


A BOLT score above 25 seconds indicates there is an 89% chance dysfunctional breathing is not occurring. This is the minimum goal for the BOLT and the main aim is to get to 40 seconds. 

A Low BOLT scores indicate faster breathing, irregular breathing, and upper chest breathing. For your everyday breathing patterns and breathing during sleep and physical activity, it is vital to improve your BOLT score.
